Natural Disaster Assessments

The wood and fiber industry in the southeastern United States is directly influenced in regard to weather conditions due to the close proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. As well as hurricane exposure, the Southeast also must consider the risk of wildfire disasters which have many times been of catastrophic degree. With our wood and fiber products being significant contributors to the economy and one of the largest components of agricultural industries, the timber industry has to be prepared for and deal with such natural disasters.

After any of the natural disasters have occurred, it is very important that state, private and industrial landowners are able to evaluate and assess the timber loss and prepare plans to remove the damaged wood in a timely manner to reduce additional wildfire risk and the spread of disease. The King Forestry staff is experienced in hurricane and wildfire timber damage assessments and can estimate future lost revenue and provide landowners with specific recommendations to maintain the health of a forest.
